Furiously Blogging

Hi readers,

So, here's the deal.  Next week I am headed to Gibraltar to do bird banding, and I can't even tell you how excited I am to do that.  There will be no WiFi there, which I'm fine with, but that means that I have to begin furiously blogging if I want to come remotely close to catching up with my blog during this trip.  This morning, I devised this nice little schedule of how my day would go, which included a list of about 6 main things that I wanted to get done.  From that list, I completed two: watching the debate that happened at three in the morning (Spain time) last night, and filling out my absentee ballot.  After watching the debate, I attempted to blog, but the WiFi stopped working.  In frustration, I turned the computer off and went upstairs to read for twenty minutes in my bed.  But, here's the thing with me and reading: I sometimes can't stop :).  This was one of those times.  My 20 minute timer went off, and I turned it off and continued to read for three more hours until I had finished the book.  In my defense, I normally have more self-control when it comes to reading, especially when I have a big to-do list, but this was one of the best books I've ever read.  (Not the best book I've ever read, because that is impossible to say, but it was way up there.)  The book was Two Boys Kissing by David Levithan.  I honestly cannot even explain the emotions that came over me while reading that book.  It contains seven main protagonists, all of whom are gay teenage boys and six of whom are couples.  I often become severely invested into characters when I read, but the pain and love that I felt in my soul as I read this book was almost unprecedented.  I highly recommend it.

Okay, so back to the point: even though I'm way behind on my blog, I'm going to try to write through September 28 by next Monday.  I'm going to base almost all of my writing on what I have written about this trip in my journal, and since I'm in a time crunch, please excuse the typos in advance.  I will try to have at least one picture per post, but sometimes it's really difficult to post photos and have them formatted correctly.

Thanks for reading,

V
